Message Center for Secure Caregiver Messaging
The Message Center enables your office to communicate securely
with your caregivers and manage all communication from a central
location in Generations. Caregivers read and respond to messages
through the mobile app while the office can manage communication
through both the main Generations site and mobile app.
Message Center Highlights
-
Message threads can be established with multiple caregivers
(ex. Avail Shift Notification) or with a single caregiver.
When communicating with multiple caregivers, each caregiver
will only be able to view messages directed to them. Only the
office has access to the entire thread of messages.
-
The Message Center is designed to replace email and text
messaging.
-
Messages are sent/received in real-time so it can also be
used for live chat sessions with your caregivers.
-
Messages are more secure than email or texting because they
never leave Generations! This helps your agency stay in
compliance with patient privacy laws and regulations.
-
Caregivers can initiate secure messages to the office using
the message center via the app.
Prior to implementing secure messaging, you should:
-
Ensure caregivers can login to the mobile app
-
Communicate to your caregivers that all messaging involving
patient data needs to be done through the app messaging
-
Enabled Message Center for secure caregiver communication in
Company Settings
For additional details view the Message Center Overview help topic for
office users and the caregiver help topic.

Generations Telephony - Voice Signature
Telephony
can now capture voice signatures. Voice signature can be
enabled on the Time/Task Signature tab in Company Settings.
When enabled, your caregiver and client will be prompted to
leave a signature when your caregiver is finishing the logout
call, provided of course that signature is enabled on the
schedule.
Voice
signatures can be viewed/played using the Time/Task Signature
tab (Telephony Schedules Edit).
Generations Telephony - Actual Times Setting for Signatures
Signature
settings now include two options. Rounded Times or Actual
Times. Prior to this release times were captured and signed
based on agencies rounding rules. By leaving the setting to
the Rounded Times option the software will continue to work
the same way. Using the Actual Times option the times
displayed and recorded for signatures will be the actual times
down to the minute. The schedule start and end time will be
rounded based on rounding rules.
Generations Telephony - Ability to edit scheduled times of
signed shifts
You
now have the option to edit start and end times after the
schedule has been signed. Typically
this is helpful if the time needs to be adjusted for payroll
or billing purposes. The original signed time is kept separate
and can never be changed unless signature is removed and
schedule is re-signed.
There
are a few important items to note.
-
To
enable this functionality an administrator needs to adjust
the security settings in Company Setting | Security
tab. The "Do not allow signed schedule times
to be edited or deleted" needs to be unchecked.
-
Changing
the start or end time of a signed schedule requires an
exception to be added for documentation. This exception
can then be viewed on the Exceptions tab when editing a
schedule.
- The
original signed times can be viewed on the Time/Task
Signature tab.
- The
Completed Schedules and Task report will display both the
original signed times and changed start and end time if
altered. There is also an additional option to include
Signature Exceptions when running the report.
Screenshot
of adding exception when changing Start or End times of a
signed schedule.
Care and Wound Note Changes

notes
-
The
wound note stage list can now be customized using the
Wound Note Stage master list.
-
The
existing Stage master list is still intact, but has been
re-labeled as Condition.

Exceptions tab is now available when editing schedules
from all areas instead of Telephony Schedules only.
